Ushering in 2012

Tonight marks the last few hours of 2011 and this year had been one helluva roller coaster ride. This year:

1. I became Mrs Boypren
2. I finally graduated with a Masters in World Literature in English from UPM
3. Found a job that touches all bases in what I love to do
4. Started baking more and more :)
5. Neglected my camera (I'm sorry Mr. Pink :( )

And these are the highlights of my year. I am hoping that 2012 will present me with more photo op moments to fully utilize Mr Pink once again. Here's to hoping that you are having a great time ushering in the new year no matter where you are and who you are with. Finally, I pray for love, happiness and health for all my loved ones and peace for the world (well, didn't that sound like something from a beauty pageant!).

Happy 2012 lovies!

Chocolate Orange Cupcakes

Last Wednesday, Ladyboss Anne and I baked chocolate orange cupcakes for the company's Secret Santa Potluck dinner. We followed this recipe to the tee and it was absolutely delicious! I know it sounds a bit like we are bragging but really I think that's the sign of a good recipe. ;) Or maybe Ladyboss Anne and I are just excellent bakers, and we did bake with a whole lot of love! Anyways, these are the only pictures that I have of the cupcakes :(. The cute little drawings on the box were done by Ladyboss Anne. It was really so cute!

Sipping Darjeeling Tea

Has anyone seen this video posted up on the Chanel YouTube channel? I am in love. Ok, Ok I am not being biased here because of my Indian heritage but that immaculate workmanship just takes my breath away!

I love that the models are just wearing the clothes and walking (somewhat confused looking) in front of the windows. Ultimately, that should be the goal; for potential buyers to look at just the clothes. Almost every moment could be frozen into snapshots and be put into any magazine as a fashion spread! And I wish I could recreate that kind of smoky-eyes make up on the female models, so very Bollywood of them. And their skin... absolutely flawless! Fantastic lighting perhaps?? LOL. The male models however, look like modern day maharajas!

Seriously Chanel, why do you torture me with such pretty clothes that I reeeeeaaaaaallllyyyyy can't afford? WHYYYYY??

Also, here's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas!

A Touch of Green and Red

Last Sunday night (holy crap it's been almost a week), I went for my first company dinner! 25 and I finally popped-the-company-dinner-cherry! LOL. It was pretty awesome as there were 80 ++ people from all over; Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, China, Hong Kong and Australia. Malaysia is currently the biggest office with the most staff; including yours truly.

So obviously, everyone had to dress to impress; HR even sent out an email with a proper invitation. We were even given a dress code; we were either to wear green, red or anything sparkly (Christmas colors). And since I bought a green maxi dress from Poplook which I haven't had the opportunity to wear, it definitely was my go to outfit. Especially with the accessories that I bought for the Nuffnang Asia Pacific Blog Awards (I wasn't attending as a guest mind you ;)). And, here is my outfit for the dinner. Just excuse the wall, I think it peed in the face of my awesome-ness!!

And these are a few of my favourite shots from the night:

My team with including the intern at the left

Girls being girls ;)

The entire Netccentric team

I initially wanted to post something longer but I figured who would actually want to read so many words, even I don't want to nowadays. Especially after coming home from work, all I want to do is see some pretty pictures! I by far am a terrible, terrible blogger.

Oh well, can't really do anything about it anyways! ;)

Have a wonderful long and Christmas-y weekend everyone! It's time to crank up the holiday tunes, and this is still my favourite. ;)

A Thousand Years

Well, finally. Something to put a stop to all those hideous bieber-tunes that have been playing on the airways! If you haven't heard of Christina Perri's 'A Thousand Years', please do!

A decent love song after all the crap that has been playing on the radio. I know, I's commercialized and will probably be played in a million and one wedding ceremonies, but seriously, the lyrics is just poetry to me:

Time stands still,
Beauty I know she is,
I will be brave
I will not let anything
take away,
What's standing in front of me,
Every breath,
Every hour has come to this

I was extremely happy to know that this song was not especially written for the OST of Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 1. That would have made me hate myself, really really hate myself for loving this song!!

Enjoy the song lovies!

p/s: Bella (Kristen Stewart) looks incredible bad in this video clip. Sorry twihards, someone had to say it!

Black, White and Purple

Well, I know this is random. No postings but suddenly there is a outfit post. Just bear with me though! I have been caught up with work and nothing exciting/important has been happening recently for me to use as blog fodder. Life has pretty much taken a turn for the....predictable...routine...expected. I guess I missed that turn that takes me all the way to adventures. Anyways, this is what I wore for the Maybelline From Catwalk to Sidewalk fashion show.

Oh, and a whole lot of thanks goes to husband for taking all these photos of me! Love you x infinity!

Dear Secret Santa

Every year, there is a Secret Santa tradition where my colleagues exchange Christmas gifts a few days before everyone take off for the holidays. This little list is to help you, my Secret Santa, on your shopping adventure. I do have to say that I am a very difficult person to shop for. My personal style is so confused; it borders between laidback and relaxed to homaigod-I-love-sequins! So to help you, my Secret Santa, here are some of the thing you can consider:

1. Jewelry; well more like accessories. I am really loving big statement rings (especially) and necklaces right now. An example would be something like this.
2. Film for my Mr Pink would great. 120mm is the stuff for Mr Pink.
3. TOPSHOP! I love love love Topshop, but this might be kinda tricky if you don't know me too well.
4. Kimono Jackets.
5. Makeup! Yeap, love make up too!
6. A Polaroid camera would make me a very happy camper.
7. For someone to dictate while I talk and then blog about it! ;) Yes, that is Miss Lazy Me talking! ;)
8. To have a personal professional photographer follow me around.
9. Maxi skirts, I like you too.
(I do realize as my list in increasing the things I want are turning more nonsensical!)

Hmmm...well, I can't really think of anything else anymore. I do realize that my list is somewhat random but I seriously don't know what else I want from my Secret Santa. So this is it.

Happy Christmas Shopping!

Demerit System for Women

*Okay, I know that I have been really really absent from the blogosphere, but just bear with me. So this is a lil' somethin', somethin' written by our sneaky, sarcastic and pervy little intern! Although honestly, beneath all that; he's a pretty good kid!*

Every relationship is governed by a set of rules. And every set of rules tends to have its own fair share of punishments. More specifically, a demerit system. When I drew up this demerit system, I got plenty of feedback from most of my female friends, mostly ‘We’re not like that’ or ‘I HATE YOUR GUTS!’ My male friends just nod and smile cryptically.

Without further ado, I present to you the Demerit System In Relationships (For Females).

Meeting your friends
• You show jealousy when he talks to your friend. (-10)

Hope that helps a lot.

Jamie Oliver's Tray Baked Chicken

For the longest time, I have been bugging husband to get me the Jamie Oliver 30 Minutes Meal Cookbook. But instead of buying me the book, husband found me the online e-book. The recipes are great but the act of referring to the laptop time and time again is such a pain!

Anyways husband and I made the Tray Baked Chicken with Creamed Spinach and and Squashed Potatoes (I would like to link the recipe but I couldn't find it online). It was delicious! However, we definitely took more than 30 minutes though. A few reasons for that: 1. as soon as we came home we were rushing to say our Maghrib prayers 2. we were delayed with washing all the raw ingredients 3. in our tiny kitchen we only have two stove tops which basically means at any given time I can only put two pans on the fire. If any of you have tried following his recipe, you'll see that it's basically taking multi tasking to the next level! And the biggest lesson that I learnt was to always cook the chicken first!

It was a delicious dinner and I am pretty much excited to try my hand at more of the 30 minutes recipes!

Fashion Valet's First Birthday!

Last Wednesday my colleagues and I were invited to attend Fashion Valet's First Birthday Bash at Publika Mall, organized by the always so lovely Vivy Yusof (also known as Proudduck). This would basically be the first fashion show that I have attended. Participating in a university organized fashion show when I was 5 years old doesn't really count anymore. This one was for grown ups!

I love fashion and I love the shows but somehow, I felt extremely out of place there. Maybe it's 1. a confidence issue, 2. or the fact that almost everyone was decked out in designer wear which was seriously unnerving (I was wearing a really simple dress), 3. or how people sorta knew each other (thank God for my colleagues who were there), 4. or even the fact that I felt emasculated with the usage of my compact Sony DSLR. Anyways, I am really hoping that this does not stop me from attending other fashion shows, if I ever get the chance I mean.

But still I had a great time taking photos, so on with it!

Happy Birthday FV!

♥ the fresh flowers

Loving Furby's outfit! I am totally in love with the top, and I might be contemplating getting it for myself as well! ;)

My very simple black and white dress with turquoise beads. And yes, I am wearing flats. I didn't want to be unstable while taking photos (whaaaat? It's a reasonable explanation!)

All my colleagues with the lady of the hour (7th from the left)

Fooling around at the photo booth

There must be something about the heart shaped frames; why does it make us sad?!

NOM cake!

*Some of the looks that I can really see myself wearing*

And that is the end to the lovely fashion show that they had. Sadly I had to leave early, but I am so glad that I did not miss the fashion show! Secretly, I wish I was one of the models strutting my stuff. ;)

Happy Wednesday!

Lady Marmalade

Two weeks ago a few of my colleagues decided to have a girls-night-out/farewell party for one of my colleagues who is leaving really soon :( . Everyone 'lovingly' calls her Furby in the office! She is such a joy to have in the office. Always making people laugh and always saying the most random things. We will all miss her so much! =s

Miss Ladyboss Anne ;)

Trying to decide my noms. We went to Marmalade Cafe in Bangsar and my goodness, was the food delicious! The portions were quite big, especially for the mains! And the smoothies and desserts were too die for! It was such a good meal that I can't wait to take husband there for dinner; although apparently (according to Ladyboss Anne) their brunch is beyond awesome!

Nachos to start the night

My mouth watering beef lasagna

Sukahati's Wholesome Burger

Ladyboss Anne and Furby's Spaghetti Aglio Olio

Apparently this is how Sukahati looks when she is hungry! LOL

(L-R) Sukahati, Furby, Ladyboss and me

Us again

Sukahati is incredibly photogenic and a joy for candid photos

Bye-bye Furby *tears*

Smizing ala Tyra Banks

Some random outfit photos. I just love the colors in this outfit; good for a cranky morning!

And, another picture of myself!

Anyways, if you've read all the way here; I owe you one huge thank you! Thank you for giving me five minutes of your time and attention! So random, but really thank you. ;)

Anyways, I finally had a really nice girls night out and I left with an overall feeling of tiredness from laughing too hard. And that is a feeling, I believe, everyone should experience!

Eid-ul-Adha 2011

This year's Eid-ul-Adha was spent in my hometown Penang. Usually on this particular eid, things are more relaxed in the sense of that we don't usually have guests over. It is more family oriented. But when you have so many family members with different thoughts and opinions, things tend to get a little heated up. So just to get a bit of a respite from the 'chaos', my brother, cousin, husband and I went out for our usual eid morning breakfast (this has been a tradition of ours ever since I could remember!).

Husband enjoying his pandan coconut at the famous Abu Siti Lane, well famous only to Penangites I suppose. ;)

A beautiful textured wall that I just had to take a photo of. There are so many hidden treasures in Penang, all part of the 'old' Penang. And, it was painted purple!

Coffee to wake up the sleepy heads :)

My pretending-to-read-but-really-not-outfit-shot shot. That was a mouthful to say!

"Husband, whatcha looking at?"

A beautiful shot that husband took of the Penang port

Even though in the photos husband and I were all smiley, it was a pretty tough weekend for the both of us mentally and physically. But still, we had some good times with the boys at home and loads of laughs as well. And now, all I'm waiting for is another long weekend where I can just relax on the couch at home without really worrying about anything else.
