Well, I've never really spoken about my familial background and my roots over here and so today I am gonna let the cat out of the bag. My family, both on my maternal and paternal side are from pre-partitioned India. Which makes us Punjabi-Muslims, as they were from the Punjab province at that time. After the partition, the surviving members of my family moved to Pakistan. But to make things easier, we just say that we are Pakistanis and we still do have relatives living over there.
On the other hand, we have boypren; who is Malay. This makes for an interesting thought as so far, my family comprises of pure-blooded Pakistanis. I myself never thought that I would date someone who isn't from my same heritage or culture. These things play an important part in everyday life for me, especially the fact that I understand and speak a mix of Hindi/Urdu/Punjabi. Which brings to the next thing: I love Bollywood movies and of course, boypren doesn't. I know, that is probably the smallest thing that I should worry about, but when you think about it, most couples bond over movies and such.
But somehow we manage to overcome our differences. We manage to find a middle ground even when the times are the toughest. Sometimes I don't even know how we manage these things. We are so different with the way we think and deal with things that it just shocks me how we are still together and working things out. Am I making any sense? Or am I rambling?
p/s: the picture has nothing to do with the post. I just found it really pretty! ;)
