If All Fails Wear Black

Before starting my posts on London, I thought I should post this first. It was on one of those visits to the midwife to get all the normal things sorted out like blood pressure and whatnot. One thing that I am not good at is keeping track of my weight. I am really unsure of how much I've put on so far and it seems that the midwives are also pretty chilled out about this that they actually don't weigh me unless I remember to ask them. So yeah, I have no idea how much weight I've put on for anyone who's interested in knowing. Oh and obviously, this was a really gloomy-gloomy day! =s

Anyways, this was another of my no makeup days and hey I'm preggers so I can pretty much walk out of the house any way I want! ;p

The Perfect Start To A Perfect Holiday

Remember how I kept saying that I was on a tight budget the last few months (despite being a little bit naughty at Topshop! Eeeeks)? Well, I was actually saving up for SoulSista's visit. We basically planned to head to London for a couple of days and then explore whatever bits and pieces of Scotland we could. Obviously since both of us are diehard fans of Harry Potter, we did the studio tour it; was completely obligatory! We also planned to take in a Broadway show, do the Hop On Hop Off bus tour of London, shopped till we were basically to the dropping point and of course we spoiled ourselves with food.

But the best thing happened to us on the first day in London itself where we chanced upon this man carrying a sign saying 'You're Perfect' on the way to the train station. Of course I said thank you to this random stranger and SoulSista wanted to take a photo of him. I think it was pretty obvious to him that we weren't locals! But what the hell right, it totally made it the perfect start to our crazy-mazy adventure together.

I wish there were more people like this in the world. By the way, it wasn't like he was asking for donations or any kind of monetary reward. He was literally holding a sign in the temperamental London weather! Now that is really something methinks. ;)

So to you who are reading this, YOU ARE PERFECT!

What I Wore Birthday Edition!

A couple of days before my birthday I received an awesome surprise from the wonderful people of Next.co.uk where they sent me another maternity outfit; a beautiful maxi dress. Blue with pinkish flowers, right up my alley I tells you.

And  since this dress is a halter neck (covered by my hair and jacket), it will prove useful after pregnancy as well for those emergency breast feeding sessions when I'm out and about with my little bubba in the future. How thoughtful right? I mean some people buy loads of maternity clothes but not all are designed to be useful after. And the cloth is so silky and cooling! I know it's ridiculous that I would want to be wearing something cooling in freaking Glasgow, but good God hot flushes are nothing to be trifled with! =s

Jacket: H&M, Dress: Next*, Shoes: Boxfresh

It was a pretty gloomy and wet day out hence why the photos are so dullish. Glasgow weather ey? Nothing anyone can do about it. Pppffffftttttt.

But really, thanks to the awesome people at Next.co.uk for this little awesome surprise. I've already worn it a couple of times (it's even on my profile picture on Facebook already! LOL) and I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing it to death by the time the baby comes! ;)

I get so excited thinking about meeting the little bubba! ;p

Preggers Diary: The Second Trimester

Okay, I know that I am supposed to blog about my vacay-cay with the SoulSista but I thought that I really should blog about my experience during my second trimester before it gets too late for it.

So second trimester; the transition was well what can I say other than somewhat nausea inducing. My nausea from the first trimester was slowly, very slowly, fading. This meant that I could finally start eating solid foods again, not like I have anything against eating ice-cream as a meal. I started with eating scrambled eggs and bread for breakfast. As soon as I could hold that I started eating heavier, but super bland foods. But guess what, I was having mad, mad craving for nasi lemak. To a level that husband decided he would attempt to make it for me; and to give him credit, it wasn't all that bad.

But still, I couldn't handle loads of smells like raw meats, spices and oh God…parmesan cheese specifically! I love anything citrusy; to eat, smell or even just have around me…and yeah I even changed my shower gel to something with orange in it! This basically influenced the types of fruits I was eating. Strawberries, oranges and mangoes. Loads of mangoes and all kinds of it. I loved eating mangoes as it is but during this pregnancy I am quite literally mango-crazy! Anything that has mango I would have it, be it dessert, drinks or anything really. I am currently on the lookout for a mango ice-lolly that for some strange reason I can't seem to get my grubby hands on! Hhhmmmph!!

Backaches was a regular feature whenever I would wake up in the morning. If I stood still (as in cooking, or washing up) I would get pretty bad aches which thankfully I could handle. But somehow I could still sleep on my back quite comfortably even though my belly was growing gradually. I did also experience some mild headaches and massive toothaches but no painkillers for me thanks to being pregnant. I think compared to the headaches, the toothaches were really getting me down. I mean I could finally eat without wanting to vomit and then suddenly my tooth were hurting so badly that I still couldn't eat! Double whammy! And that's the answer to all who've been wondering how come I didn't manage to put on extra weight, I just couldn't eat! Ppppfffttt! :(

But really, the second trimester is when your body really starts changing, and you finally feel your baby moving. It's actually pretty much incredible. Like I said before I kinda understand now why some women are addicted to  getting pregnant. The feeling is kinda awesome, I kid you not. ;)

This is it for the second trimester, things finally started getting better for me in terms of nausea and I finally started enjoying being pregnant. Not to mention that while Mak and Abah were here they completely spoiled me by cooking fantabulous meals for me and baby! ;)

I suppose I would only update on the final trimester when baby finally arrives to give a better picture of how it all went. ;)

If you have me on your twitter and Instagram (both with the handle @farahanw) you'll know that I was extremely busy holidaying it up with SoulSista on her two week trip to visit lil' ol' moi'. I promise to be back soon with my regular postings and also what I was up to in the last two weeks or so. I had such a great time but when it came for goodbyes at the airport, I basically bawled like a baby. Thank Allah s.w.t. that I have such an incredibly understanding husband who just let me cry until I felt better. ♥

Anyways it's time to nap and yes, I'll update soon!!

A Bittersweet Goodbye

After two and a half months the time finally came for Mak and Abah to head back home to Malaysia. After sending them off today (Saturday) afternoon husband and I came home and just veg-ed out in front of the TV on the couch with no mood for anything. Both of us were already missing them and it had only been a few hours since they'd left. After this it's back to Skype sessions on the weekend or whenever. *sigh*

Tomorrow (Sunday) however is a whole new day, with a new arrival at our doorstep. So, here's looking to tomorrow. *tries to smile*

A Few Shades Of Blue

Wore this for an appointment and later for a late Mother's Day Lunch (click here for post)

Cardigan: GAP, T-shirt: H&M, Jeans: MNG, Necklace: Zara, Shoes: Boxfresh

It was one of those rare days of sunshine that we've been getting off and on recently. But really after the winter that we've had, please, bring on all the sunshine possible! Oh and I randomly decided to post this photo of husband and I. Without the bump, this looks like a photo of a young couple dating, no? Soon, it'll be a photo of three! It's crazy how simultaneously near and far that seems.

Oh well, for now lets just enjoy being preggers. ;)

The Baby Diaries: Twinkle Toes

As I'm sitting, facing the laptop just randomly surfing the interwebs, I can feel my belly going up, down, sideways then resting for a bit before it continues all over again. I think baby is completely kicking my ass for not updating my blog with another 'Baby Diaries' post! That's how I want to take it anyways *sticks out tongue*.

Waaaaaaay before getting pregnant, I was already obsessed with teeny tiny baby shoes. They are so adorable and can fit in the palm of my hands, and I do have pretty small hands. So just imagine how tiny their little toes and feet would be. After finding out that I was pregnant, I had decided that no matter what once baby starts walking we are definitely getting baby a pair of Converse shoes, even if it does cost as much as the adult size. Budget be damned! And surprisingly husband totally agreed with me! Bertuahnya (Lucky) you baby, daddy is completely willing to blow our monthly budget to buy you shoes! ;)

But of course before that we can't have baby running around barefoot can we? So on one of those days that I was trolling the sites of Topshop, Mango, Gap and Zara; I completely fell in love with this sweet sweet pair of baby shoes. I know it looks so plain and simple, but I think that's kinda why it stole my heart. And this is the first thing that we bought for baby. Actually second thing, but the first thing was a soft toy/souvenir so it probably doesn't count. ;) To be honest, most of the things for baby (like clothes) are going to be hand-me-downs and/or pre-used items. Let's face it, babies grow up really fast and their clothes are expensive. I have to say though, it's not like we don't have money at all, but we are on scholarship so yeah. *shrugs*

So anyways, check out baby's shoes; tiny lil things for those sweet lil twinkle toes! <3 Zara mini for my mini! <3

I can't wait for baby to finally be able to wear them out! Urgh, the cuteness level is getting unbearable!!

Go Mama, It's Your Birthday!!

We're gona party like it's your birthday!!

I had a ridiculously wild party on my birthday; I ate, drank, napped, danced….it was wild! Just so wild! NOT! LOL. I actually had an appointment with the midwife on my birthday, so any plans of going out or getting pampered went totally and completely out the window. But I was still really excited; I got to hear my baby's heart beating. Every time I hear it, I am still in awe. I still go, 'I made that, way to go me!'. Even though the midwife had to draw blood and almost messed up my arm (she didn't put enough pressure after removing the needle and my arm got covered in blood), it was a good day!

Although, baby did give me a mini heart attack! As I laid down on the examination bed, I could feel baby giving me kicks but when the midwife put the speaker thingamajiggy on my belly it was quiet. No sound, nothing; and obviously I was freaking the hell out. I was thinking that it couldn't be right, baby was kicking me so there should be a heart beat. After moving the speaker thingamajiggy around my belly for a bit, finally I heard the WOOPWOOPWOOPWOOP of my baby's heart. I quite seriously almost peed in my pants from relief!

Other than that, as per tradition on my birthday I would usually wear something new. This tradition started on one of those birthdays that I felt I had nothing nice to wear and ever since then I would always buy something for myself as a birthday outfit, regardless of what I was going to do that day. This year because of budget constrains and also being so pregnant, thought of giving it a miss but lo and behold, the weekend before my birthday I got a special delivery from Next.co.uk with a lil something for me! Alhamdulillah rezeki (rizq). Of course outfit photos will be coming soon and yes, if you were wondering I wore a new outfit to my midwife's appointment! ;)

The other big surprise I got was from husband, he got a haircut!! I know it doesn't sound like a big deal but really, I hated seeing him with long hair. And it was dropping all over the place. Every time after he showers, I would have to hose down the bath tub because his hair would be everywhere. And because it's such a big deal for me, of course I had to post before and after photos of his haircut! ;)

But really, it was a great low-key birthday celebration where I got to eat anything and everything I wanted (so much for a clean and healthy diet ppppfffffffttttttttt!). The photos on Instagram (@farahanw) are testament to that!

And now, I'm looking forward for another joint birthday celebration next week with a very special person! Details on that coming soooooooooooon!

I Was A Bad Mama Today!!

Today I was a very, very bad mama! I went to the Livingston Designer Outlet Mall with Mak and Abah thinking that I could snag some bargain purchases for the lil bub who's growing in me but I ended up buying something for myself! On my defence, even though it's an outlet mall, I still found the onesies and tiny clothes really expensive and I could probably get it cheaper buying it during the sales. Then what happened was the biggest mistake ever; I walked to the other side of the mall and I saw my achilles heel: Topshop!

Of course I headed straight to the clearance rows and found this sweater and I had to have it! Believe it or not I've been lusting after it for something like two seasons ago. The original price was 40GBP and I got it for 15GBP. STEAL! I really, really try very hard to not buy anything from Topshop at their regular retail price. It really does end up costing an arm and a freaking leg sometimes and for me; big no-no! Of course, if you an afford, please knock yourself out shopping and yes, I hate you and stop making me jealous; kthxbai! Also, I know I'm pretty crazy to be buying knitwear during this pseudo spring/summer weather but whatever man, this sweater makes me happy dammit! And this print was out way before the all the cat prints that are out now so another big whoop from me. ;)

And just don't get me started on all the beeee-yuuuuu-ti-ful Kurt Geiger heels that were at the outlet mall. *wipes drool* I literally had to sit down to just take in their gorgeousness and my being 'unable-to-wear-them-right-now-ness'. Pppfffftttt.

Okay, baby is kicking me for being really bad and only shopping for myself I suppose! Sorry baby, Mama promises to get you awesome stuff at awesome bargain prices okay? Love you long time!

p/s: It might be time for Topshop to get its own label on my blog methinks. Hmmmmmmm.

Dusting Off The Blog

Initially I wanted to do a proper blog post but I am so ridiculously sleepy right now that it just doesn't make sense to write too much because I might end up not making any sense at all! This is what I wore for a (decaf) coffee run one weekend:
